NIPEC

The Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC) was established by the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2002 under the Health and Personal social Services Act as an NDPB (Non Departmental Public Body) to support the development of nurses and midwives by promoting high standards of practice, education and professional development. NIPEC also provides advice and guidance on best practice and matters relating to nursing and midwifery.

The Northern Ireland Practice Education Council for Nursing & Midwifery (NIPEC) are delighted to host an information event as part of the Florence Nightingale Nursing and Midwifery Exhibition in the Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens, Belfast on 1 April 2020.

Choosing a career in Nursing or Midwifery is a big decision.  The purpose of the sessions is to provide Year 13 students with an opportunity to learn more about the Professions and the various fields of practice. The students will hear directly from registered nurses and local Universities (QUB and UU) about the selection process, writing personal statements and making their application stand out.

There will be an overview of the recent changes to the curriculum and education pathway ‘Future Nurse Future Midwife’ and a brief talk from students currently in training about the realities of choosing Nursing or Midwifery as a career and the associated demands of choosing one of these challenging  courses.

They are planning to have representatives from:

  • Adult Nursing
  • Learning Disability Nursing
  • Children’s Nursing
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Midwifery

We are supporting NIPEC with this event and assisting with the bookings for the information sessions.  Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. At the moment we are offering the opportunity to book 3 students on ONE INFORMATION SESSION ONLY (we will maintain a waiting list should you have other interested students).
