Pharmacy Futures

Building the NI pharmacy workforce for the future

World Pharmacists Day this Saturday 25 September 2021

To celebrate this, Pharmacy Forum NI is launching the new Pharmacy Futures NI animation (click here to view) targeting all post-primary schools. The animation is just under 2 minutes long and is aimed at the slightly earlier stage in subject choices/career decision making but would be suitable for any post-primary age. It complements the existing resources featured on the Pharmacy Futures NI website including the Pharmacy Careers Showcase launched in May.

Today’s pupils are tomorrow’s pharmacists and we need them!

Now live….

To prepare for the 1,100+ additional roles in the NI pharmacy sector required over the next five years, Pharmacy Futures NI have been engaging with NI post-primary schools and encouraging students to make pharmacy their career of choice.

The highlight of their outreach activity was a dynamic virtual careers event on Wednesday 19 May but which was also be made available as an ongoing resource. Lasting 30 minutes, their virtual showcase event gave pupils an exciting insight into life as a pharmacist in Northern Ireland – from studying pharmacy at university, to the first few years as a pharmacist and opportunities to progress in hospital, community and GP surgery pharmacy sectors. This event was hosted by Cool FM’s Rebecca McKinney.

Pharmacy Careers Showcase is now live and available to watch by clicking www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSrBom8PTAo. This can be viewed at any time, from any location – be it during a Careers or Chemistry lesson in school, or from the comfort of their own home with their parents or friends.

Pupils wishing to find out more about Pharmacy in Northern Ireland can also visit their dedicated website and explore their resources www.pharmacyfuturesni.com
We would encourage teachers of Chemistry, Science and Careers to share this with their students and watch the careers showcase too.
